AYURVEDA MASSAGE & BODY THERAPY

The Power of Gentle Touch

Ayurveda offers a wide range of manual therapies that are individually tailored to you. The treatment strategy is guided by the imbalance of the Doshas and includes Ayurvedic techniques such as full-body and partial-body massages with oils, herbal powders, or silk gloves adapted to your constitution. Kati Bastis (local oil baths), herbal poultices, forehead pours, or Marma therapies may also be used.

These therapies can help you:

The Six Principles of Ayurvedic Body Therapy

1. Reducing (Langhana)

Treatments that relieve heaviness, sluggishness, and stagnation. They activate metabolism, mobilize Ama, and reduce Kapha.

Typical applications: Udvartana (powder massage), Gharṣaṇa (silk glove massage), activating partial massages
Effect: Lightness, clarity, increased activity

2. Building (Brimhana)

Nourishing, stabilizing applications that strengthen tissues, calm Vata, and increase vitality.

Typical applications: Abhyanga (full-body oil massage), Piṇḍa Sveda (herbal poultice massage with oil), local oil baths
Effect: Grounding, stability, regeneration

3. Drying (Rūkṣaṇa / Rushana)

Therapies that reduce moisture, oiliness, and heaviness. They have a rough, defatting effect and stimulate metabolism.

Typical applications: Udvartana, Utsādana, Rūkṣa Abhyanga
Effect: Relief, detoxification, clearer tissue structure

4. Oiling (Snehana)

Treatments that lubricate, nourish, and calm. They balance Vata, relieve tension, and promote mobility.

Typical applications: Abhyanga, oily Piṇḍa Sveda, Shirodhara, Ölbasti
Effect: Flexibility, calm, deep relaxation

5. Sweating (Svedana)

Heat and sweating therapies that resolve stagnation, relax muscles, and support the removal of Ama.

Typical applications: Herbal steam, Piṇḍa Sveda, local heat applications
Effect: Detoxification, loosening, improved circulation

6. Astringent (Sthambhana)

Stabilizing, contracting applications that retain fluids, firm tissues, and calm Vata.

Typical applications: Lepa (herbal pastes)
Effect: Support, structure, clear tissue boundaries

The specific principles applied in your treatment are determined by your individual constitution, current condition, and therapeutic goals.
